Chris Morrow pounced on a one-on-one opportunity and coolly slotted the game's only goal in the 34th minute.
Johnny Black provided much of the threat for Oran Kearney's Coleraine as he hit an early first half shot wide as well as a well saved free-kick in the second.
Shane Jennings nearly found the equaliser for Coleraine on 73 minutes but his initial shot was blocked and the follow up effort found the side netting.
Jordan Owens thought he had made the game safe for Crusaders with 10 minutes to go but his clipped finish was ruled offside.
However, Crusaders saw the remaining tense few minutes out and secured the first major silverware of 2012.
