From the first whistle the visitors showed why they have the greater European pedigree, forcing the home defence back with their pace and precision passing.

Crues keeper Sean O'Neill was in inspired form for the Hatchetmen and his heroics stopped Jan Jonsson's men from inflicting even worse punishment.

O'Neill made a stunning fingertip save to turn away Simen Wangberg's header but Rosenborg celebrated the breakthrough in the 19th minute when Mikael Dorsin directed a glancing header into the net from Markus Henriksen's clever cross.

The visitors, with former Spurs striker Steffen Iversen in their starting line-up, looked like they had more gears than the Crues.

On 41 minutes Crusaders almost carved out an equaliser against the run of play when Timmy Adamson's 25-yard volley cleared the crossbar by an inch.

In the final 21 minutes Crusaders' night went rapidly downhill as they conceded twice and missed a penalty.

A spot kick wasn't awarded when Peter Ankersen appeared to handle the ball in the area and the Shore Road wounds soon deepened.

Borek Dockal rifled in number two in the 71st minute and then Declan Caddell was given a straight red card for a lunge on the goalscorer.

Dorsin slotted in his second from close range in the 76th minute and Crusaders' misery was complete when a spot-kick, awarded after Ankersen had hauled down Jordan Owens, was blasted straight at keeper Daniel Orlund's legs by Gareth McKeown.

John,i think you will find that Rosenburg are also a full time team and not so long ago were playing in the final stages of the Champions league, but that dos'ent take away from a great result for the Reds.here's hoping that they, along with our other representatives from the Irish League do well in their second leg matches.

Cliftonville football Club defeat a full time professional club from Sweden in Europe and your headline is devoted to another Irish league club getting hammered. You are an absolute joke!
