Cross raced out of the blocks and into an early four point lead on Sunday, before Ballinderry forward Conleth Gilligan pegged the Armagh champions back with three points of his own.

However Ballinderry scored just once more in the opening half as Cross dominated the play.

The Derry champions' cause was not helped when Martin Harney was sent off for a second yellow card just before the break, but to their credit they fought back well after the restart, and managed to get to within a point when Gilligan netted a penalty with just nine minutes left.

However Cross finished the game strongly and kicked four of the last five points, in spite of losing Aaron Kernan to a second yellow card late in the game.

In Sunday's quarter-final clash at Brewster Park, Burren proved too strong for Fermanagh side Roslea as they claimed a 1-15 to 2-5 victory to book their place in the semi-finals.

The Down champions will meet Monaghan side Latton O'Rahillys, who saw off Glenswilly of Donegal by 0-10 to 0-9 at Ballybofey on Sunday.
