When captain William Porterfield went out on the first ball, luck was never going to be on Ireland's side.
They posted a score of 129-6 in Monday's match in an innings of 19 badly hampered by the rain.
The match was eventually called off, without their opponents even batting.
Although both sides lost their first match, the West Indies advance due to a better net run rate.
