Coleraine FC have signed English striker Leon Knight, the club has confirmed.

The London-born striker is set to join the Bannsiders until the end of the 2010-11 season.

Coleraine say they are now awaiting international clearance for the player, "which would allow Knight to be included in the squad for this Saturday's CPL match against Glenavon at Mourneview Park."

The 28-year-old striker began his career as a trainee at Chelsea spending loan periods at Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Knight signed for Brighton for £100,000 in 2003 after impressing on loan.

He left the club for Swansea City in 2006, after a series of arguments with manager Mark McGhee.

He was signed by manager Gordon Chisholm for Dumfries club Queen of the South for the 2009-10 season.

He played for England at under 19 and under 20 levels.
