Coleraine fans angry at Patterson move

Coleraine fans gave Rory Patterson a hostile reception at Seaview and the prolific striker, who is set to move to Glentoran, responded by smashing in four goals in a 5-2 victory.

Crusaders 2 - 5 Coleraine

Patterson, who has scored 24 goals this season, has agreed to join the Oval at the end of the season and the away fans expressed their anger at the goal machine's decision.

Linfield was also understood to be in the race for his signature.

The striker told UTV he agreed to sign up to a pre-contract agreement with the Glens because they had offered him "a good deal".

"They seemed very interested and they did the best to get me."

"They offered me a good deal and I wanted to play with the best players in the league and the biggest club in the league."

On Saturday, Patterson gave the boo-boys a 'sush' gesture as he set about putting a huge dent in Crusaders' title hopes.

The sides were level at 1-1 at half-time but by the 58th minute the visitors were 4-1 ahead and coasting to victory.

Patterson's first goal was a stunning strike from distance in the 37th minute but Mickey Collins equalised with a diving header two minutes later.

But Coleraine were senstational after the re-start. Goalkeeper Chris Keenan brought down Gareth Tommons in the box and Patterson coolly slotted home the penalty.

On 55 minutes David Bell was penalised for bringing down Tommons in the penalty area and Patterson netted his hat-trick from the spot.

Shortly afterwards it was 4-1 when Darren Boyce rifled the ball past Keenan.

Chris Morrow gave the Crues hope in the 70th minute by firing the ball past keeper Davy O'Hare from 10 yards but the Bannsiders always looked dangerous on the counter-attack and Patterson's breakaway goal in the final minute finished the demolition job.
