The Irish League side drew first blood midway through the second half on Saturday when Liam Boyce found the target with a header.
But the Hoops, who were not at full-strength but still had plenty of quality on display, responded well and equalised soon after.
Teenage midfielder Anthony Watt found the mark to make it 1-1.
And the Scottish champions went ahead ten minutes later, this time Calum McGregor was the man to get himself on the scoresheet with a fine finish.
It looked like the winning goal but Cliftonville hit back just before the end with a strike from super sub Joe Gormley.
The goal secured a 2-2 draw on a day that will live long in the memory of Reds fans.
"It was a great workout for ourselves," Cliftonville coach Peter Murray told UTV.
"We played some lovely football, had to make plenty of changes to give all the lads a bit of a game but very, very positive and we're looking forward to the new season."
