Northern Ireland golfer Darren Clarke is one over par after the opening day of the Maybank Malaysian Open.
The Dungannon man carded an opening round of 73,that included four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey at the par four 6th, to leave him 8 shots off the leaders.
Clarke got off to the ideal start picking up two shots in his first three holes, before following a bogey 6 at the par five 5th with a double bogey at the next.
Three pars in a row would see him make the turn in 37, but he would drop another shot at the 226 yard par three 11th, to go two over. Another run of three pars would be rewarded with yet another bogey at the 15th, but the current world number 108 would finish strongly with back to back birdies on his two closing holes.
Rory McIlroy returns to the course this week after a break, at the Honda Classis in Palm Beach Florida. He'll be joined by fellow countryman Graeme McDowell and Ireland's three time major winner Padraig Harrington.
