It took extra time to decide the winner of the Ulster Club Championship Preliminary Round at Kingspan Breffni Park on Sunday.
Terry O'Neill opened the scoring for St Gall's but Cavan Gaels' hit back to go ahead and a goal from Nicholas Walsh increased their lead to 1-3 0-2 at half-time.
Gaels extended their lead to six points after the break but Gall's fought back and CJ McGourty scored a penalty to force extra time.
Immediately after that Gael's Eamon Reilly was shown a straight red card as the result of players tangling.
Gall's edged it in extra time and the pressure was evident on their opponents as Gael's also had Anthony Forde, Walsh and Karl Crotty sent off, all for picking up their second yellow cards of the day.
St Gall's are now through to the Ulster quarter finals where they will play Armagh champions Pearse Og.
