The Northern Ireland international completed the deal on Wednesday night, after a training session with the north Belfast side.
Boyce left the club in August 2010 after 68 appearances, signing for German side Werder Bremen.
But the 20-year-old says he "always knew" he would come back to Solitude.
"I always knew I hadn't played my last game for Cliftonville," he said.
"I'm really pleased to have signed again and, having spent the last few months training with the Reds, it's brilliant to be in a position where I'll be working towards actually playing on a Saturday.
"I had always kept in touch with the lads when I was away and, now that I'm back, I want to play my part in helping this club win things because it's what everyone deserves."
Boyce is likely to make his second debut for the Reds in Saturday's Irish Cup tie with Ards at Solitude.
Manager Tommy Breslin expressed his delight at the striker's return.
"Liam is a real talent and everyone at the Club will be very happy to hear that he has re-joined us," Breslin said.
"The fans here have always loved him and I'm sure they'll be over the moon with this news.
"As a Manager, I'm looking forward to having such a quality player to work with and I'd like to thank the Management Committee for their work in ensuring we have been able to make Boycie's return happen."
