Ireland's Tommy Bowe has put his hand up as a possible replacement to Brian O'Driscoll.

O'Driscoll played his last game for Ireland as they won the Six Nations Championship in France earlier this month and a list of players are already being tipped as his successor.

Bowe has added his name to the mix, after starring there already for the Ospreys and the British and Irish Lions.

"I played there quite a bit with the Ospreys, but I haven't had the opportunity to play there much since coming back to Ulster - probably because I haven't played too many games due to being injured!" Bowe told UTV Sport.

I would love to get the chance there again - I love playing 13.

He added: "I played 13 in the final test for the Lions back in 2009, so it would be great to get an opportunity for Ireland.

"I think there are plenty of people queuing up to get that position though!"

Bowe just missed out on the chance to take part in this year's Six Nations after recovering too late from a groin injury.

He trained with the squad before the Italy game, but was released back to Ulster to continue his recovery.

Since his return, he has scored three tries in three games and is expected to be selected for Ireland's summer tour.
