Belfast boxer Jamie Conlon believes an appearance on the Barry McGuigan promoted bill at the Ulster Hall next month will help propel his career to the next level.

The 23-year-old will face Welshman Kyle King on the undercard of Carl Frampton's clash with Yuriy Voronin on 18 September.

"I love the Ulster Hall," he said. "I boxed there three times and won three times. I've also been to lots of fights there as a fan. It's so compact - the crowd is right on top of the action which is brilliant.

"I'm getting my tickets this week so I'm hoping to have a lot of people there supporting me. The atmosphere is going to be brilliant, because at shows like this people are in their seats for the whole card and not just the main event."

Conlon added: "I know my fans will be supporting Carl in the main event and his fans will support me as well - so hopefully in the future both of us will be topping bills in Belfast and winning British, Commonwealth, European and World titles. I think we both have the ability to do that."

And there is no underestimating his opponent ahead of the bout.

Speaking about King, Conlon said: "He is a good come forward fighter.

"Most people think he was on the wrong end of a bad decision against Usman Ahmed last year, so he should be undefeated and I will be treating him as if he is.

"But I will be ready for him. Hopefully a title shot will come within four or five fights. My coach John Breen definitely thinks I am good enough."

Helping Conlan prepare for the contest is younger brother Michael, who will compete in the Commonwealth Games later this year.

"I've been sparring with Michael and also one of the Welsh boxers. Hopefully when Michael wins the Commonwealth Games I will be ready to fight for the Commonwealth title. That would be great," Conlon said.

The bill will be topped by Carl Frampton's clash with Yuriy Voronin and also features Prizefighter Winner Willie 'Big Bang' Casey, Stephen Haughian, Ryan Greene, Troy James and Chris Keane.
