The Belfast Giants have cemented their place at the top of the Elite League after they hammered Hull Stingrays by eight goals on Saturday night.

Robert Dowd and Jeff Mason scored two goals apiece for the Giants with Jon Pelle, Jeremy Rebek, Craig Peacock and Adam Keefe also on target to make it nine wins in a row for the Belfast side.

The Giants are seven points clear at top of the league table after their latest away win.

On Sunday night they take on Coventry Blaze.

The second placed side in the league, Sheffield Steelers, saw off bottom side, Fife Flyers, by 5-3, but still has three games in hand.

Luke Fulghum netted twice for the Steelers, who scored three times in the final period having started it 3-2 down.

In other games, the Nottingham Panthers were 6-3 winners over the Cardiff Devils and Braehead Clan edged out the Edinburgh Capitals 5-4.
