Ards got off to a good start in the Friday night fixture and by half-time will have felt they should have been ahead as they had the better chances.

Early in the second half Ballinamallard had a big penalty call ruled out by the referee and a last minute save from the Mallard's keeper Fergal Murphy ensured the visitors took home a share of the points.

The draw puts Ards seven points behind Warrenpoint Town in the league.

Warrenpoint are away to Dungannon Swifts on Saturday.

Should they win at Stangmore Park it will consign Ards to the Championship for next season.

Ballinamallard, meanwhile, go level on points with Coleraine, but goal difference keeps them in 10th.

In Saturday's other fixtures, Cliftonville take on Glentoran, while Crusaders play Linfield in the two cross-city derbies.

Portadown take on their mid-Ulster rivals Glenavon at Shamrock Park and Coleraine play Ballymena.
