The Saffrons had emerged unbeaten from their qualifying group but were always going to be under pressure against a strong Wexford outfit, however they endured a nightmare start which saw them concede two goals in the opening four minutes.

Rory Jacob scored both three-pointers, and Conor McDonald added a third as Wexford led by 3-9 to 0-10 at the interval.

The Saffrons plugged away with captain Neil McManus top-scoring from play with five points over the course of the game, and Paul Shiels finding the mark with six frees, but a red card for Eoghan Campbell in the 60th minute proved a further setback as Wexford finished strongly.

McDonald grabbed his second goal of the afternoon and Liam Óg McGovern added a fifth for Wexford as they eased to victory by 5-19 to 0-21.
