A frame down going into the second session, Allen trailed by five frames to nice before claiming the penultimate frame.
However, his opponent claimed the next frame - and the match - in dramatic fashion when the Antrim man potted the white after sinking the final black.
Allen had a terrible start to Saturday night's opening session, in which he lost the opening three frames before pulling one back with a break of 86 in the fourth frame.
Both players then exchanged frames before Allen found some rhythm to claim the final two frames of the session, finishing with a break of 88 to reduce the margin to the minimum in the best of 19 contest.
