A woman has been robbed of a bag containing money in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

It happened at the Diamond, Rathcoole on Saturday afternoon.

The woman was approached by two men in the area shortly after 12:05pm.

A police spokesperson said: "It is believed that the males took a black sports bag containing a sum of money during the incident."

The victim was not injured, but was left badly shaken.

Detective Inspector Chris Millar said: "One of the males is described as 5"10, slim build and wearing a grey/black hooded top. The other man is described as 5"8, stocky build with grey balding hair.

"Both men are believed to be aged in their 50's. Enquiries are continuing."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the robbery to contact them on the 101 non-emergency number.

Disgraceful, I used to live in Rathcoole and the people where very decent, a bad element must have moved in, because when I lived there it was very safe, hope this scum is caught quickly by the police and put where they belong "in jail"

I hope the psni treat this as a serious crime and do all they can to apprehend the perpetrators. A "graduated response" is no use.
