Woman released over pub attack

A woman who was arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man outside a pub in Co Down has been released from custody.

A 23-year-old man suffered a head injury and broken collar bone after being attacked at Main Street in Newcastle during the early hours of Sunday.

Police arrested the 22-year-old woman at the scene of the incident and took her to Bangor PSNI station for questioning. She has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to come forward.
