It is claimed an 18-year-old woman was assaulted in the Rosemount area in the early hours of Wednesday.

Detectives from the Rape Crime Unit have asked anyone who was in the Rosemount area and may have seen anything suspicious to contact them.

A PSNI spokesperson said they believe a taxi driver may have information that could help with their inquiry.

The driver picked up a male and female fare in the Shipquay Street area of Derry sometime after 1.30am and took them to the Rosemount area.

Meanwhile in west Belfast, a woman has allegedly been sexually assaulted.

The victim, who is in her 50s, was attacked by a man in the Glassmullan Gardens area shortly after 8.15am on Friday.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was left badly shaken.

The attacker walked off towards Tullymore Gardens area. He is described as being in his mid 30s and 5'8" tall. He was wearing a black beany hat pulled down over his eyebrows, a navy jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone who was in the area at the time has been asked to contact police.
