The 22-year-old victim was walking along Magazine Street shortly after 2.30am on Sunday when she was grabbed by a man.
He assaulted the woman and she broke free and ran off.
The attacker is said to be in his early to mid 20s, 6'2", and of muscular build with a fat face.
He has a tribal style tattoo on the inside of his right forearm and dark spiky hair.
Anyone who may be able to identify the attacker has been asked to contact police.
