A woman has been bitten on the nose as she waited for a bus in Belfast city centre.

The 36-year-old victim was at a bus stop outside the library on Royal Avenue when she was assaulted shortly before 2pm on Tuesday.

She was also kicked in the face by the man during the attack, which was police described as "unprovoked".

The man ran off and was arrested a short distance away.

A 29-year-old remains in custody and is helping police with their inquiries.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries.
