The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for rain affecting counties Down, Antrim and Armagh, starting on Friday morning and lasting through to Saturday.

A further yellow warning for strong winds is in place from Saturday through to Sunday.

Forecasters said: "Heavy rain will spread eastwards across the UK on Friday. The heavy rain will be accompanied by strong to gale force winds.

"The public should be aware of possible disruption. Winds will increase on Saturday, with gusts widely to around 50-60 mph. Additionally large waves could overtop coastlines."

The warning for rain is valid until 3am on Saturday while the warning for wind expires at 6am on Sunday, and affects all parts of Northern Ireland.
