'Viable device' found in Glengormley

A suspected viable device has been found at a house in Glengormley, on the outskirts of north Belfast.

Police and army bomb squad officers were called to the Antrim Road area on Friday night following reports of a suspicious object.

A number of local homes were evacuated at Swanston Road North while searches took place.

Police said a device believed to be viable was removed from the scene for further testing.

A spokesperson explained: "ATO were tasked to the scene and a device believed to be viable at this stage was removed. A number of homes were evacuated during the incident.

"The device has been taken away for further forensic examinations."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any further information about it has been asked to contact officers at Newtownabbey on 0845 600 8000.
