UTV has been contacted by angry customers who said they have not been able to access their own cash in their accounts on Wednesday.

It is understood some benefit payments have been affected too.

In a statement the bank said it is working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

An Ulster Bank spokesperson said: "We are aware of a technical issue affecting a number of Ulster Bank systems which we are working to resolve as quickly as possible.

"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this may cause."

Ulsterbank - is like a Monsterbank, it's eaten all my money and I nolonger have access to it to pay my bills! It's even more hilarious when staff members write comments defending it, saying how wonderful their customer service is and that all their customers can access their money. It's not customer service I need right now it's my money to show up in my account for me to pay my bills! I tried paying a bill online on Wednesday but was told I had insufficient funds, When I contacted the bank I was put on hold - I am not a happy customer! What makes matters worse is staff coming online to defend a bogus system - NOT IMPRESSED - Ulsterbank sorry I mean Monsterbank! Bank account will be closed as soon as I get my money and I will be looking for compensation!!!!

The money that ulster bank will have to pay out to thrid party companies such as O2, Sky, and BT, to name a few, in order to reimburse charges will far outweigh any sort of profit made by interest that could possibly be made in two days... Don't be so narrow minded 'Lee in belfast'.
