The broadcaster received a special award at the One ITV Regions and Nations awards in London for its years of work, including on the programmes UTV Live Tonight and Insight.

"It was a great honour to accept this award on behalf of everyone who has contributed to UTV current affairs programmes over the years," Darwin Templeton said.

"The judges paid tribute to the work that had been done against the backdrop of the Troubles and noted that the journalistic skills developed in those days were still very much in evidence today.

"It was very pleasing to see our commitment to current affairs and the efforts of our staff acknowledged in this way by our peers in ITV."

A special mention was also given to the recent Insight documentary 'The Resurrection of Brendan Smyth' - which also won the national Royal Television Society award in the Nations and Regions Current Affairs and News category.

The One ITV Regions and Nations awards celebrate creative and excellent journalism in UK news and current affairs.

Well, aren't UTV great? in UTV wrote (386 days ago):
Well done, UTV. I myself won an award last week. It was "The You R Great" award, voted for by me and presented to me by me in recognition of being me. I also patted myself on the back and kissed my own derriere.
