Two men arrested over the murder of Kevin McDaid in Coleraine and the attempted murder of Damien Fleming have been released.
Police said the men, aged 43 and 37, were freed pending further inquiries.
Catholic father-of-four Mr McDaid died after being attacked by a loyalist gang near his Somerset Drive home last month.
His wife Evelyn was also targeted and sustained bruising and cuts to the head.
Detective Chief Inspector Frankie Taylor confirmed the motive was sectarianism and said the victim was well-known and well-liked.
He also said Mr McDaid was a youth worker who worked closely with the police and had tried to bring both sides of the community together.
Earlier this week, a 20-year-old man being questioned by police about the attack was released on bail pending further inquiries.
A 42-year-old woman arrested by police was also released.
Nine people have been charged in connection with the incident on May 24.
