Ten shots from a Kalashnikov-type gun hit two police cars which were towing digital signs through a residential area on the Crumlin Road, near the Ardoyne interface in north Belfast, shortly after 7pm on 5 December.

The officers escaped injury and two weapons were later recovered during searches of the area.

On Tuesday, detectives from Serious Crime Branch arrested a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman in the north Belfast area.

They were later released pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.

G in Belfast, I live in a protestant area and I can assure you that the dissidents aren't the only ones to have held onto there guns after they were supposedly decommissioned or as "Loyalists" stated "Beyond Reach". Jokes the lot of them! Both need to move on and stop terrorising there own people.

These dissidents need to stop threatening families in North Belfast. It is sickening the amount of innocent people being threatened into things with lives of children being threatened. The entire community needs to stand up to these people.

Shocking attack on police, and directly across from a place of worship , not much concern for chapel

Where these not the guns we were told had been put beyond use so that the prisoners could be let out and certain people put into government? Seems put beyond use means set in the back of a wardrobe!
