The incident happened at a filling station on Annareagh Road, Hamiltonsbawn at 2.30am on Thursday.

Officers attended the scene after reports of a loud bang in the area. They discovered a suspect device close to the ATM.

Army bomb experts made the device safe and removed it for further examination.

A black Audi car was found abandoned on Gosford Road, Markethill a short time later.

The men, both aged 37, have been charged with causing an explosion, attempted theft and two counts of criminal damage.

They are due to appear before Newry Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
