Three masked men assaulted the victim with hammers and bats at a property on Ebrington Street shortly after 2am on Saturday.

The men, aged 26 and 41, have been charged with offences including aggravated burglary with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

They are due to appear before Derry Magistrates' Court on Monday.

The man was treated in hospital for serious head and facial injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
