The men are also accused of grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

They are expected to appear before Bangor Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

On Sunday at around 10pm a homeowner in the Dunmore Road area challenged two men nearby who then assaulted him and attempted to steal his vehicle.

The victim, in his 50s, was not injured in the incident.

Police would ask anyone who witnessed this incident or anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them.
