The alarm was raised on Saturday at 3.15pm when police received a report that the children had become stuck in a ditch.

The police helicopter was tasked to the scene, locating the boys around 30 minutes later.

A crew member was able to free the boys, and bring them to safety.

A police statement said: "The two boys were cold and wet but otherwise unharmed by their ordeal."
