William Street had to be closed in both directions for a time but has since reopened.

Translink said its engineers are at the scene and are working to fix the problem, which was caused by a "train failure" at around 6.56am on Thursday.

Services between Portadown and Lisburn have been stopped. The fault is expected to cause "major disruption" and could have a knock-on effect during the day.

A spokesperson continued: "We apologise to our customers and are working hard to fix this problem. We will keep people informed through our Twitter page."
