Four more confirmed cases of swine flu have been detected in Northern Ireland in the last two weeks.

The Department of Health said the total now stood at 50 laboratory confirmed cases.

However that may just be the tip of the iceberg following the ending of the routine testing of suspected cases last week.

A Department of Health representative said: "There is evidence of a rise in the number of consultations for flu and flu-like illness from GPs and Out of Hours centres."

There have been no deaths in Northern Ireland related to swine flu.
