She was Roma McAleese from the Ashdale area of the town.
The accident happened at Ashdale Park at 6.45pm on Tuesday.
It is understood the little girl was taken to hospital but died of her injuries.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened to contact them.
Reacting to the third fatality within four days on local roads Coleraine Sinn Féin councillor Billy Leonard has said that the community has received yet another devastating shock which leaves another family totally shattered.
He said:"The carnage just seems to continue and this news has added poignancy given a three year old girl has lost her life. My thoughts are obviously with this family circle and of course the families who have also been recently bereaved.
I know that all the circumstances vary but it is an incredibly sad reminder that we all can play our part in trying to reduce injuries and fatalities on our roads."
