Standing in the dock of Lisburn Magistrates Court, Lurgan men 20-year-old Christopher Wright from Mount Zion House, James Jordan, 18, from Princes Street and 21-year-old Richard Chester, of no fixed address, were all charged with the murder of Andrew Lorimer last Sunday.

The 43-year-old was found battered to death in a flat at Portlec Place in the Mourneview area of Lurgan in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

In court on Saturday, Detective Sergeant Brown told the court he was aware of all the facts and circumstances and believed he could connect each of the defendants to the charge.

No bail applications were lodged with the court so District Judge Amanda Henderson remanded all three into custody to appear again on 24 February at Craigavon Magistrates' Court via videolink, commenting that they faced "an extremely serious charge".

At the end of the short hearing she praised everyone who attended the court for the "dignified way they dealt with the proceedings."
