The men, aged 23, 28 and 35 were detained in the Kiln Road area when two cars were stopped and a suspected gun found.

"The vehicles and the suspected firearm will now be subjected to a detailed forensic examination," said a PSNI spokesman.

The Kiln Road remains closed as a police investigation continues.

Meanwhile, a controlled explosion has been carried out during a security alert on the Markethill Road in Newry.

The suspicious object has been declared a hoax.

These so called dissidents in the North Lurgan area have very few real weapons, so, I suppose, it may have been another replica. similar to the ones they use when threatning young kids in Kilwilkie. Fair play to the PSNI. Keep up the good work and lock up all these thugs.

Suspected gun ? Either it was a gun or it wasn't , suppose it will turn out to be a pint of milk and then they will be set free to organise another crime . Just bang them up.
