Three charged over 'loyalist' murder bid

Three men have been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm following the shooting of a man in north Belfast.

The trio - aged 47, 46 and 31 - will appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Saturday.It follows a gun attack at Carr's Glen in which a 44-year-old was shot in the leg. Two men had been driving in the area on Wednesday night when something was thrown at their car - when they got out, one was shot in the upper thigh.He was taken to hospital with injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.Police Chief Constable George Hamilton said the incident came as a result of heightened tensions within loyalism in this part of north Belfast.He appealed for the community to support detectives in their investigations.
