The 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman were charged with making explosives with intent to endanger life and two counts of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.

They are expected to appear in Newry Magistrates' Court and, as is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The arrests were made on Wednesday by police investigating dissident republican activity in the Forkhill area of south Armagh.
