The victim was confronted by a male armed with a knife at the front of his home in the Quadrant Place area at around 3pm on Thursday.

A 51-year-old woman, who was also in the house at the time, came to the teenager's assistance and tried to shut the door on the male.

She sustained a minor cut to her arm in the scuffle.

It is understood the victim then chased the assailant and was stabbed a number of times outside the property.

He was taken for hospital treatment to his injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

Detectives at Woodbourne CID would like to speak to witnesses or anyone with information. They can be reached on the non-emergency number 101.
