Elderly woman punched in Stabane assault
An elderly woman has been punched in the face during an attempted robbery in Strabane.

The 67-year-old had just left her home and was making her way down Melmount Road on Saturday evening using a walking aid when her attacker, believed to be a teenager aged 13 or 14, assaulted her.

After he failed to get the woman's handbag attached to the frame, he ran off leaving passers by to help.

The woman received an injury to her eye and has been left shocked by the ordeal.

The attacker was wearing a black hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms.

Police want anyone who witnessed the attack to contact them.
