A man has been knocked down in west Belfast.

It happened on the Suffolk Road just before 7pm on Wednesday.

He was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he is believed to be in a serious condition.

Police said the Suffolk Road has been closed at the Glen Road junction with diversions in place at Suffolk Road and Horn Drive.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
