The 18-year-old was approached by two men when walking in the Glenkeen area at around 8pm on Thursday.

They took him along a pathway a short distance away and ordered him to lie face down in the grass before shooting him once in the leg.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which police described as not life-threatening.

One of the attackers was described as being approximately 5'10" tall and of heavy build.

It is believed both men may have made off in a red-coloured saloon car.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
