Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing in the Derrylin area.

"At this stage we believe we are dealing with a suspect device," a statement, released by the PSNI on Friday night, said.

Army bomb experts are examining the vehicle, which appears to have been abandoned on the Derrylin Road close to Thompsons Bridge.

A number of homes have been evacuated during the security operation.

"We thank people for their patience and co-operation, as we endeavour to ensure that the area in which they live is absolutely safe," a PSNI spokeswoman said.

"We are working to allow residents who were evacuated from their homes earlier to return as soon as possible."

The A509 Derrylin Road between Derrylin village and Bellanaleck remains closed.

Motorists are advised that diversions are in place.
