Members of the public have been asked to stay vigilant while officers carry out investigations in the northern part of the town on Friday evening.

Anyone who spots an object which appears out of the ordinary has been asked not to touch it but to come forward and alert the PSNI.

Craigavon Area Commander, Chief Inspector Paul Reid, said: "The safety of the public is our utmost priority at all times and we are asking anyone who notices anything suspicious or untoward in their local area to phone us straight away.

"If you come across an object which looks suspicious or out of place, do not approach or touch it but phone us immediately.

"We can be contacted on the 101 non-emergency number of 999 in an emergency."
