The 20-year-old was found in a house at Leamount Park off the Cline Road in the Ballyvally area of the town at around 6.30pm on Friday.
Another man in the house was taken to hospital, where he is said to be in a stable condition.
Police are investigating a possible drugs link to the death.
"However this investigation is in its very early stages," a spokesperson said.
"Police will now await the results of post-mortem, toxicology and any other tests."
Upper Bann DUP MLA Stephen Moutray said there was a feeling of despair in the local community.
"The people of Banbridge are stunned this morning at the news that a young person has lost their life overnight in the town," he said.
"Those that peddle drugs within our community are a scourge, and I would people with any information whatsoever relating to this to pass it to the police or pass it to elected representatives who are more than willing to act as intermediaries."
