The silver Nissan Micra is believed to have been stolen from outside a house in the Mount Merrion Park area in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At about 3.40am, it crashed into school gates in the Rosetta Road area and the driver was injured.

The injuries sustained are not believed to be life-threatening.

The collision comes after four men were seen leaving business premises in the Drumkeen Retail Park with electrical goods.

It is understood that they had gained entry at the rear of the property and then made off in the direction of the Wynchurch area.

Police believe the Nissan Micra was used in the burglary.

One 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the burglary and motoring offences.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Castlereagh on the non-emergency 101 number or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

I go to this school. I was walking into the school and seen the gate. I was wondering what happened to the gate and so now I know.
