South Belfast alert 'nothing untoward'

Families in south Belfast have been allowed to return home after a suspicious object at the centre of a security alert was found to be nothing untoward.

The item was discovered in the Lenaghan Park area of the city on Saturday evening.
Army bomb squad officers attended and carried out a controlled explosion.
They deemed the object "nothing untoward".
Police said residents who were evacuated can now return home and traffic restrictions in the area have now been lifted.
