Robert Christie and his eight-year-old son, also called Robert, were overcome with slurry fumes at a neighbour's farm at Ballynaloob Road on Saturday.

The little boy died after being airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. He was laid to rest earlier this week.

The PSNI issued a statement on Thursday morning which confirmed that the condition of Robert senior has now improved.

He is being cared for at the Causeway Hospital, Coleraine.
