UTV understands two shots may have been fired at officers in the Kilwilkie estate, where a small number of rioters gathered.

Police were investigating a number of security alerts across the town - including one at Brownlow Terrace and another at Lake Street.

Earlier, the railway line between Lurgan and Moira was closed as a precaution and a controlled explosion was carried out at a builder's yard in Kilmaine Street, although nothing suspicious was found.

Police maintained a heavy presence in the town on Saturday night.

The police helicopter was used to monitor the ongoing situation.

Saturday's bomb attack in Lurgan came amid an escalation in dissident attacks across Northern Ireland in recent weeks.

Rab what exactly has the mainstream UDA to do with a dissident attack in Lurgan??? Maybe you should direct blame where blame is due before making stupid comments.

Freedom Fighters fight for freedom. Hijacking, bombing and shooting kids has nothing to do with my freedom. That goes for both communities. Security alerts are so common that all they are these days is an inconvenience if your traveling that way. Thats it, nothing political about it.

3 innocent children injured for nothing cydona 'eire' will never be free. as ive said before the mainstream uda need to sort there own areas out before even thinking about 'peace' in northern ireland. its never going to happen as there is to much problems not to mention bitterness in both sides of the 'communities'. what would work better would be designated areas for all the decent people from each background to live together as one community then build from there. that way its the peoples choice and the bitterness is still kept apart aswell as communities building a better future together away from everything. just a thought
