The shots hit the front door and upstairs window of the property in the Drumard Park area of Hazelbank on Monday at around 10.30pm.

SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has condemned those responsible.

"Derry cannot afford to have people running around with guns and firing them into people's homes."

He said the perpetrators were hellbent on wrecking the city's positive global image after it was announced as one of the top global cities to visit by Lonely Planet.

He added: "Those out there who believe that they can use guns, lethal weapons, to try and fight, intimidate or shoot people, they are not representing anyone in this city, they are a very very small minority."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact them.
